The 149th session of the Council of the Arab League at the Level of Permanent Representatives kicked off at the Arab League General Secretariat headquarters here on Sunday. 

Qatar is taking part in the Permanent Representatives Meeting with a delegation led by HE Qatar's Permanent Representative to the Arab League Saif bin Muqaddam Al Buainain.

Topics on the agenda of the meeting include the report of the Secretary-General on the activities of the Secretariat, the procedures for the implementation of the intersessional resolutions of the Council (148-149) and the scheduling of the 150th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, which was included in the agenda at the request of the General Secretariat.

The meeting will also discuss the political developments of the Palestinian issue, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the activation of the Arab peace imitative, in addition to the recent developments in the situation in the Palestinian territories, including Israeli violations in Jerusalem, the settlements, the refugees, the UNRWA and others.
The situation in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and the support for peace and development in Sudan, Somalia and the Comoros, as well as the peaceful resolution of the border dispute between Eritrea and Djibouti will also be discussed during the meeting.
Arab relations with regional and international groups such as the Arab-African relations, the Arab-European relations and the Arab-Russian cooperation forum, the strengthening of cooperation with the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Arab relations with China, India and Japan too to be discussed.

The Council will also consider the Arab nominations for the positions of the United Nations and its specialized agencies and other international organizations and institutions, as well as the appointment of the Chairman of the Arab Standing Committee for Arab Media and the report and recommendations of the Permanent Arab Committee on Human Rights at its 43rd regular session, held on January 31.
