HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani yesterday paid an inspection visit to green fodder cultivation project in Umm Ghuwailina, which uses processed water. The project is executed by First Agriculture, one of Al Qamra Holding companies. It is one of the three projects made available to the private sector to stimulate it to participate in food security projects in order to invest in the field of green fodder production. Three Qatari companies won the contract. The minister of economy and commerce, who was accompanied during the visit with Al Qamra Holding Chairman Hamad Saleh al-Qamra and a number of company officials, learned about the progress of the project and production methods. The products of the project were put up for sale in the local market in mid-January. The minister also listened to a detailed explanation of the modern irrigation methods and systems. HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani also learned about the modern techniques used in agriculture to produce high-quality green fodder. Al Qamra Holding chairman said that First Agriculture was able to execute the project in record time using state-of-the-art technology in order to accomplish maximum productivity of the cultivated area and help in reaching self-sufficiency in green fodder.
