FIFA President Gianni Infantino has once again praised Qatar’s preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, saying it will be a “wonderful” event.
“We are focused on the 2018 Russia World Cup. But I must admit that I am pleased with the progress of the work in Qatar. They are early. We are going to have a wonderful World Cup in 2022,” he said in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
Qatar has accelerated preparations for the World Cup despite the illegal blockade imposed on it by Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain.
Earlier this month, Infantino had urged Gulf countries to make the World Cup a success, saying it was a tournament for the entire region.
