The Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation (QTSBF) has forged a new partnership with the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) to promote sports and culture, the exchange of the signing of memorandum of which was held at the press conference at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex yesterday.
With the new alliance, both the QTSBF and the QTA will promote Qatar as a top destination for sports tourism and also the ongoing Qatar Total Open 2018 tennis championship which features world’s top players, it was announced.
Speaking of the tie up, QTSBF Secretary-General Tariq Darwish Zainal, said, “It’s our pleasure to announce the new partnership with QTA which promotes Qatar as a leading tourism destination in the Middle East, and also in the rest of the world.”
Zainal stressed that the association comes in the light of QTSBF’s strategy to support sport and athletes in Qatar and to highlight the country’s pioneering role in hosting major sports events in the region.
Rashed al-Qurese, Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer at QTA, said, “QTA has long recognised the unique power of sport in bringing people, whether participants or spectators, together from all around the world. That’s why sports tourism has been placed among the top priority focus areas in the next chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy.”
About the tennis tournaments in Doha, al-Qurese said, “For this specific we have two things; the first is the promotional video of the competition which you may have seen, and two, we are working with QTSBF to use the tennis events for tourism for Qatar as a destination. If the tennis players from all over the world, who converge here annually, want to explore more we shall also offer conscious services and offer them the option.”
