Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has said it is utilising its indoor and outdoor facilities to bring visitors a range of events at this year’s National Sport Day. For the seventh year in a row, AZF will also lend these facilities to Qatar’s leading sports organisations, bringing the country’s sports family together in one place.

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), more than 27 sports federations, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), Qatar Football Association (QFA) and the QNB Stars League have placed their trust in Qatar’s Sports City to deliver an array of activities yet again, AZF has said in a statement.

In total, 22 government organisations and private companies are set to take part in the wider National Sport Day 2018 celebrations in Aspire Zone. Also, AZF has said it will “dazzle visitors” with more than 120 art installations on National Sport Day.

Al-Adaam Village features 14 different sports alongside Qatar’s best athletes

In addition to Aspire Zone’s activities, which cater to community members of all ages and physical capabilities, the QOC’s Al-Adaam Village will see some of Qatar’s best athletes participate in different types of sports. These include gymnastics, athletics, fencing, weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, judo, taekwondo, basketball, tennis, sailing, kayaking, squash, volleyball, indoor hockey, cricket, table tennis and golf.

The activities will run from 8.30am until 4pm in Aspire Park, behind Hyatt Plaza.

Qatar’s ‘football family’ gathers in Aspire Zone

Qatar’s ‘football family’, comprising the QFA, SC and QNB Stars League, will also celebrate National Sport Day 2018 in Aspire Zone, with the annual ‘Football Family’ tournament returning to Aspire Zone for the seventh consecutive year on the outdoor pitches behind Mövenpick Hotel Al Aziziyah Doha.

Aspire Zone introduces new sports and incorporates fun activities for all

AZF has stressed that its National Sport Day 2018 will be Qatar’s largest and longest celebration and is expected to attract thousands of visitors again this each year. A number of outdoor and indoor family-friendly activities are lined up for this occasion, some of which are being introduced for the first time.

This year’s highlights include the Fun Run, dodgeball, Nordic Walk, Japanese kendo demonstrations, various indoor activities at Aspire Dome and children’s activities on Pitch 10. Visitors can park in the car parks near Aspetar, Villaggio or on Al Furousiya Street. Shuttle buses will be available to pick attendees up from the Blue Building opposite Aspetar from 7am and will drop them off near outdoor Football Pitch 10.
