Qatar's ambassador to China Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri said that the relations between Qatar and China are developing constantly thanks to the great efforts and the continuous support of the two countries' leaderships.

In an interview with Chinese news agency (Xinhua), ambassador al-Mansouri noted that the strategic partnership between the two countries was established in November 2014 when His Highness the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani visited China, opening a new era of the bilateral relations.
Thanks to the efforts and the support of the two leaderships, the relations between the two countries developed constantly and resulted in many memorandums of understanding and agreements in the fields of education, sports, investment, finance and others, stressing that the ambitions are still high to continue work and co-ordination between the two countries to achieve further accomplishments in the coming years.
The Qatari ambassador said that the "Belt and Road" initiative serves the interests of all countries.
This led Qatar to support the initiative when it was introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, and confirmed that it is a useful initiative for China and the countries of Asia and the world.
Therefore, Qatar was one of the first countries to sign a co-operation agreement to join the initiative.
Ambassador Sultan bin Salmeen al-Mansouri said that Qatar has entered into the mechanisms that establish this initiative like joining the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which is a very important mechanism, in addition to the establishment of the Renminbi Clearing Centre in Qatar in 2015 and is the first of its kind in the Middle East.
