The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) has once again warned against carrying out activities similar to those offered by nurseries without having the necessary licences.

The directive has been issued in view of the health and safety risks for children that might result from the practice of running unlicensed nurseries.
The ministry had issued a similar notice last year too, as was reported in the local media.
Now, the MADLSA has re-issused the notice in view of its supervisory role pertaining to nursery schools, and in order to "ensure the protection of children from being exposed to risks at places that carry out activities similar to those of nurseries in the State without a licence in accordance with the provisions of Law No 1 of 2014 that regulates nurseries".
The notice, which can be viewed on the ministry's Twitter page, says the MADLSA "warns all individuals and legal persons in the State from receiving children in order to hold an activity similar to that of nursery schools".
The ministry said "this is due to the serious health and safety risk for children that might result from such a practice."
All those who do not abide by the law will be liable for legal prosecution, as well as their subordinates and employees, both for criminal and civil liability as stipulated in Law No 1 of 2014 or by the Penal Code issued in Law No 11 of 2004 and its amendments, the notice adds.
