Qatar’s handball team recorded their second straight win at the eighth Asian Men’s Handball Championship, beating China 34-9 in Seoul, South Korea yesterday. The championship is also important as it acts as a qualifier to the World Cup, which will take place in Denmark and Germany in 2019.
The win lifted Qatar’s point tally to four points. They lead Group D, ahead of Saudi Arabia on goal difference. The Saudi team defeated New Zealand yesterday. The match between Qatar and Saudi will determine the group winner, as both have guaranteed their qualification into the next round. Member of the Qatari delegation in the competition Adel al-Enzi said that the team is giving their best so far.
He added that the match against China was more challenging than the one against New Zealand, but the Qatari team has enough experience to overcome the two challenges. He added that the team was taking the first round seriously, as a team’s performance during that round determines their path towards the final.
