After successfully hosting two tournaments in November 2017, Qatar will play host to International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF)-Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS) World Team Championship next month.

India’s Pankaj Advani won the IBSF Snooker Worlds in Doha.

The first edition of the tournament will run from February 27 to March 2, 2018, with the four-day tournament featuring a total prize pot of USD60,000.
The 24 teams will be divided into eight groups of three each and will be played on league basis. All the matches in the four-day tournament will be best-of-five games.
Last few months have been busy for Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF), who have hosted two back-to-back IBSF world championships — Billiards and Snooker — besides capping 2017 with the World 9-Ball Championship.
India’s Pankaj Advani, who won his ninth national billiards crown back home on Monday, won the shorter format 150-up variant in billiards beating England’s Mike Russell in the final to claim his 17th world title.
In the Long-Up format, Russell got the better of the Indian in the semi-finals to set up an all-England final against Robert Hall. Russell showed his class notching up his sixth IBSF world billiards title beating Hall in the decider.
However, Advani wasn’t done on his trip to Doha. The 32-year-old from the Indian city of Bengaluru won his 18th world title when he beat Iran’s Amir Sarkhosh 8-2 in the IBSF World Snooker Championship men’s final at Al Arabi Sports Club Indoor Hall.
Among the women, Belgian star Wendy Jans tightened her stranglehold on the women’s crown, winning her sixth straight IBSF world title and seventh overall, while Welshman Darren Morgan picked up his fourth Masters title.
“I think it was a lot of hard work for the Qatar team to organise two back-to-back tournaments. The feedback I have received, everybody is happy about this tournament. All the players have supported. I am happy about how everything has come together,” IBSF president Mubarak al-Khayarin had told Gulf Times then.
“Whether you look at the venue, the technical side, the conditions, the equipment, everything has been great. Then there were the high level of the games that the players put up. It has been fantastic. I think the level of this tournament, even in terms of the games and players, is much higher than the last tournament.”
