Qatar Charity (QC) has launched “Winter for the Needy” campaign to reach out to vulnerable refugees and needy people in Syria, Iraq, Palestine, and Rohingya by providing essential living items, food, and fuel in winter months.
The campaign comes as cold weather prevails and the rainy season starts, making worse the conditions of the needy people in conflict zones.
Addressing a press conference, Qatar Charity’s Projects Executive Manager Khaled Abdulla al-Yafei said the campaign, which launches under the slogan “Warm Their Winter” has a total budget of QR65mn and targets 1.77mn vulnerable people whose countries are going through conflicts and exceptional circumstances.
“The campaign aims at providing essential living items such as food, tents, winter clothes, blankets, heaters, and fuel.
With the support of our Qatari people and our expatriates in Qatar, we aspire to reach out to as many vulnerable people as possible,” al-Yafei said.
Al-Yafei appealed to Qatari and expatriate benefactors to contribute to providing support to the refugees and displaced people to help them survive the blistering cold.
“Through a donation of QR50 up to QR3,000, we will manage to provide food, fuel, and shelter to refugees and people in need.”
The campaign products include hygiene kits, family clothing bags, diesel heaters, food baskets, blankets, school backpacks, wooden cottage and tents, in addition to other products that suit the conditions in the four countries.
A few days ago, Qatar Charity kicked off the campaign by distributing food baskets, tents, blankets, winter clothes in Syria as well as Rohingya refugees in the city of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.
Those interested to contribute to the campaign may donate via qcharity.org, or by calling hotline 44667711.
They can also do so at Qatar Charity’s headquarters or any of its collection outlets in major commercial centres and malls.
