The Al Thumama Health Centre (HC) in Doha has provided medical services to more 8,150 nationals of the siege countries since the start of the blockade in June, according to local Arabic daily Arrayah.

Dr Hanadi al-Hail, senior family medicine consultant at the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and director of the Al Thumama HC, told the daily that the health centre always offers due care and help to all its visitors regardless of their nationality or background. She said the centre received, during this period, 351 Bahraini citizens, 88 Emiratis, 154 Saudis and 7,562 Egyptians.
Dr al-Hail stressed the keenness of the PHCC to provide all inhabitants of Qatar with the necessary medical care regardless of any political or other issues.
She informed that some 21,000 people are registered with the Al Thumama HC, with Qataris representing around 20% of them. The centre could accommodate to up to 50,000 people she added.
Further, the official said registration at the HC was still open on the condition that the applicant should be a resident of the areas covered by the centre.
The HC currently receives around 11,000 visitors a month, including those availing of its specialised clinics.
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt had severed diplomatic relations with Qatar and imposed a blockade on the country on June 5.
