Darb Al Saai festivities, held in celebration of the National Day, concluded on Wednesday. The festivities achieve the vision of the National Day in terms of enhancing loyalty, solidarity, unity and pride in the Qatari national identity, which becomes evident every year when the celebrations revive the memory of the state's founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed bin Thani.

On Sunday, HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali honoured the sponsors and supporters of National Day activities during a special ceremony at Darb Al Saai theatre. The minister thanked all sponsors for their role and duty towards social responsibility for the homeland in order to consolidate the national identity of Qatar. One of the most important events is the flag hoisting and the march as the crowd gather at Darb Al Saai square. The march features camels and horses as well as classic and modern cars, old traffic patrols, motorbikes and a replica of rail metro.
Among the most popular activities at Darb Al Saai was the Doha event, which featured pavilions for all state sectors, in which they displayed cultural and awareness interactive activities. Another popular event was the Souq Waqif event, a popular market including shops selling local products by Qatari entrepreneurs, in addition to the event by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
Darb Al Saai paid special attention to Qatari heritage, including one on poetry that mimics the old desert lifestyle. Al Bidda event, meanwhile, reflects the heritage marine environment. Al Liwan women's event is designed to be a recreational place for women, where they can practice the activities available inside the tent, in addition to a special stage to present the different women's performances.
Al Shaqab Women's activity was also added this year under the umbrella of the women tent activities for the first time. The women's category was included by providing a special place for them to ride and to learn more about Arabian horses while respecting Qatari customs and traditions. The shooting activity came to revive the sport of parents and grandparents, while Qatar Rail presented a miniature model of rail metro. On the other hand, Al Baraha activity, which was held for the first time this year, aims to connect the people of Qatar with their ancient past and to highlight the values of networking and acquaintance among the members of the Qatari society, to revive the past between the present generation and the consolidation of these values and culture for the next generation.
The "main theater" was the final stage of educational activities in Darb Al Saai, which is the speech and debate activity and Ardha traditional sword dance. Qatar Foundation also concluded its national day celebrations in Darb Al Saai, where its tent, which provided an interesting array of educational activities, received more than 106,500 visitors from December 9 to 20.
The foundation's activities have diversified to match its four main functions: pre-university education, higher education, science and research, and community development. Qatar Social Work Foundation concluded its activities in Darb Al Saai. The events included a varied programme between the theatre activities through competitions and prizes, and other offers for participants from Nomas Center and Al Gannas Society and the activities of the national awareness programme Tarsheed of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). The employees of Qatar Foundation for Social Work participated in a national march led by the directors of the centers under the umbrella of the Foundation and the employees and their families in Darb Al Saai, expressing their love for the country and their loyalty to the wise leadership by raising Qatar flags and other slogans expressing love and loyalty.
Darb Al Saai witnessed special activities this year, the most important of which was the "March of Friendship" for the children of Arab and foreign communities,which extended for more than 3km carrying Qatar's flag along with the flags of their countries, stressing the spirit of friendship.
A painting was inaugurated at the headquarters of the police college in Darb Al Saai, with a Guinness certificate handed to the largest number of participants in the colouring of the painting. The painting officially entered the list of world records after breaking a record from last October by more than 11,000 participants, as the number of people participating in colouring the painting, which stands at 12-m long and 7.5-m wide, stood at 13,824 people.
