With patriotic fervour gripping the country in view of the Qatar National Day 2017 celebrations, retail outlets are witnessing brisk sales of mementos, accessories, garments and other souvenirs through which people can show their love for the country.

Among these are hypermarkets and big supermarkets that have set up special, exclusive sections in their outlets dedicated to products based on patriotic themes.
A number of clothes shops, too, are seeing hectic activity as customers line up to buy special dresses for the occasion, including children's garments that are to be worn during National Day celebrations at schools and other places, it is found.
"Besides the Qatar national flag, the demand is high for several other kinds of products too - the dress worn by locals, caps, different kinds of accessories, scarves, baloons, t-shirts, etc.," said a shopkeeper in Doha.
While all these items could be seen in the colours of the national flag, the 'Tamim Al Majd' portrait also features prominently on products such as t-shirts, according to sources.
"Both citizens and expatriates are looking to express their love and support for the country and its leadership, and hence there is a huge demand for these items," said a resident.
"The National Day brings everyone together in the country. The use of clothes and accessories based on this theme helps in the external manifestation of people's feelings for the country," said another resident living in Doha. "The blockade has already triggered a huge show of support for the country, and now the National Day is yet another opportunity for people to express solidarity with Qatar, its leadership, government and people."
A number of goods including wall hangings, coffee cups, bottles, trays, key chains, table tops etc. carry slogans hailing Qatar.
Some hypermarkets and other stores are offering replicas of some of Qatar's best-known landmarks. A salesman at a city shopping centre said along with flags and caps, they are also receiving lots of enquiries from customers for such souvenirs.
Most of the items on sale for the National Day festivities are reasonably priced, it is learnt.
