Ashghal will start converting Al Tarfa Roundabout (known as Golf Course Roundabout) into a signal-controlled intersection on Thursday.
The project aims to enhance traffic flow by widening the roads. 
One lane will be closed on the University Street while two lanes will be open to traffic in each direction. One lane will also be closed and two lanes kept open on all sides of Al Tarfa Roundabout (as shown on the map). 
The closure will start on Thursday evening and is expected to last until mid-February 2018. Access roads to the residential areas will remain open throughout the project period. 
The conversion of Al Tarfa Roundabout into an intersection includes works to improve a number of streets in the area. The number of lanes of a 500m section of the University Street will be increased to four main lanes and two left turn lanes in both directions.
The number of lanes of a 400m section of Al Khor Coastal Road will be increased to four main lanes and three left turn lanes in both directions.
The number of lanes of a 600m section of Golf Course Street will be increased to three main lanes and three left turn lanes in both directions.
The project will also include sidewalks on all sides of the intersection, and will also provide street lighting as well as road signs in addition to upgrading the stormwater drainage network, and protecting existing utilities of Ooredoo and Kahramaa, located under the roads.
