Qatar has expressed its strong condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s use of excessive force against Palestinians during a protest over the US president’s recognition of Al Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel.
In a statement yesterday, the Foreign Ministry said that the fall of dozens of martyrs and injured among Palestinian demonstrators by the Israeli occupation forces is a heinous crime and a blatant infringement of the right to peaceful protest.
The statement called on the international community to act immediately to stop the Israeli occupation’s crimes and to protect the Palestinian people.
Reiterating  Qatar’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and the brotherly Palestinian people, it said the most important among the legitimate rights of the Palestinians is the establishment of an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier, giving a speech at the Arab emergency meeting at the level of foreign ministers at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo, HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani said the Arab and Islamic world was facing a dangerous development after US President Donald Trump’s move on Al Quds.
He said such a move was a serious escalation and great provocation to the sentiments of millions of Muslims and Christians around the world, in addition to being a clear violation of all agreements and resolutions led by the ones issued by the UN Security Council and General Assembly that annul all the Israeli actions aiming to change Al Quds’ legal status.
Sheikh Mohamed said the US move was a biased one towards the Israeli occupation and served a great injustice to the historic and legitimate rights of the Palestinians. “It also created a reality that everyone must stand firm against its dangerous implications.”
The minister also called for unity in support of the struggle of the Palestinian people and urged the international community to take the necessary steps in accordance to international law in dealing with the American decision and defending Al Quds’ great historical and religious status.
