His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani participated on Tuesday in the opening session of the 38th round of the Supreme Council of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which took place in Al-Tahrir Hall at Bayan Palace in Kuwait.

The session was attended by the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Emir, which included His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani, the personal representative of His Highness the Emir, as well as a number of ministers.

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in Kuwait earlier Tuesday leading Qatar's delegation to the 38th session of the GGC Supreme Council meeting.

Upon his arrival at Kuwait International Airport, the Emir and the accompanying delegation were received by the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

Also receiving the Emir were Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali al-Ghanim, HE Deputy Chief of the Kuwait National Guard Sheikh Mishal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Sheikh Mohamed al-Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah, GCC Secretary General Dr Abdullatif al-Zayani, a number of Sheikhs and ministers, Qatar's ambassador to Kuwait Hamad bin Ali al-Henzab, Kuwait's ambassador to Qatar Hafeez Mohamed al-Ajmi, members of the Qatari embassy, and a number of senior civilian and military officials.

Upon his arrival, His Highness the Emir extended his and the Qatari people's sincere greetings to the Emir of Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people, wishing him health and wellbeing and further wishing his country progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.

The Emir said he hopes the summit, which, he added, takes place amid critical conditions in the march of the GCC and amid regional challenges, would result in outcomes that contribute to maintaining security and stability of the region as well as achieving the aspirations of the Gulf peoples towards deepening cooperation and solidarity and reaching the desired goals of the council.

The Emir prayed that they would succeed to achieve the good for the Gulf, Arab and Muslim peoples.

A mission of honour led by Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled al-Jarrah al-Sabah was formed to accompany the Emir.
