AlBahie Auction House has announced that the ‘Made For Qatar, A National Day Celebration Auction’ will be held on December 14. The auction will take place at 7pm in AlBahie’s main saleroom at Katara – the Cultural Village, Building 22C.
The pre-auction exhibition will be free and open to the public, beginning December 1 and remaining on view until December 13, the day before the auction, the organisers have said in a statement.The schedule for the pre-auction exhibition is as follows: Sundays-Thursdays – from 10.30am to 8pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays - from 5.30pm to 10.30pm.
‘Made for Qatar’ celebrates Qatar National Day with a curated selection of objects to display, to “wear and to show one’s pride on December 18, Qulu li Qatar”.
Highlights include a unique ‘Tamim Al Majd’ pendant necklace from Qatari brand Nouf Jewelry, designed in collaboration with Qatari artist Ahmed al-Maadheed, a limited-edition ‘Made for Qatar’ Aigner Cybill bag, a special red velvet and grey abaya designed by Star Suhail and a custom Qatar National Day cape by Sarah al-Saleh, a version of which was recently worn by celebrity Kim Kardashian.
The auction will feature a selection of pashmina ghutras and rare shahtoosh ghutras, all hand-embroidered with unique designs as well as a selection of swords, both modern and antique, including a replica of ‘The Founder’s Sword’ used by His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani.
Also part of the selection will be Qatari plate numbers 97400 and 1218, the “perfect numbers to display for National Day”, the statement notes.
During the pre-auction exhibition, AlBahie will host Doha Film Institute for two screenings of Dari Qatar; one can visit albahie.com or dohafilminstitute.com for further details as show times are announced. The event is free and open to the public.
