People have to be careful about the source of the news that reaches them through social networking sites, Doha resident Ahsan Habib Sheikh told Qatar Urdu Radio’s live show Haqeeqat on Thursday.
“One of the ways we can filter news on social media is to look at the source. Secondly, social media cannot be our only source of news, we should look at TV channels such as Al Jazeera, and newspapers to authenticate news,” Sheikh asserted.
“Ever since the blockade of Qatar started, fake news and propaganda have become rampant on social media so we have to be very careful about what we read and take everything with a grain of salt,” he added.

Haqeeqat, which aims to engage and interact with the large South Asian expatriate community in Qatar, is a joint venture of the Gulf Times and Qatar Media Corporation Urdu Radio. The show, hosted by Saif-ur-Rehman, is broadcast from Sunday to Thursday on FM107.
