*Third session of Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee to be held in Doha on Wednesday

His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and President of the sisterly Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will hold the meeting of the third session of the Qatar-Turkey Supreme Strategic Committee, at the Emiri Diwan, on Wednesday.
President Erdogan will arrive in Doha Tuesday evening, on an official visit to Qatar.
His Highness the Emir and the Turkish President will also discuss means of enhancing strategic bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as review the latest developments in the region.
The third session of the Supreme Strategic Committee at the ministerial level between Qatar and Turkey was held in Ankara on October 23.
Co-chaired by HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed in Abdulrahman al-Thani and Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, the meeting discussed the relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, and reviewed the outcome of the meeting of senior officials of the Supreme Strategic Committee held in Doha on September 28, 2017. The two sides also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.
The second meeting of Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee was held in the Turkish city of Trabzon on December 18, 2016.
Speaking at the meeting , His Highness the Emir reiterated Qatar's support to Turkey against any terrorist challenge, stressing that what affected Turkey affected Qatar as well. The Emir and Erdogan co-chaired the meeting.
The first meeting of the Qatari-Turkish Supreme Strategic Committee, held in Doha on December 2, 2015 was also chaired by the Emir and Erdogan.
The meeting reviewed the close relations of co-operation between Qatar and Turkey and means of developing and enhancing them in various fields. It also discussed a host of regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian problem and the situation in Syria.
After the meeting, the Emir and the Turkish president witnessed the signing of a number of protocols, agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries.
DPA adds from Istanbul: The Turkish President headed to Russia on Monday for talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin , the first leg of a three-nation tour that will see him visit Kuwait the following day and then Qatar.
Kuwait is trying to mediate in the Gulf crisis, which was triggered after Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates led a blockade of Qatar, a staunch ally of Turkey.
According to Reuters, before departing Istanbul for Russia, Erdogan said he would discuss a solution to the five-month dispute between Qatar and its Gulf Arab neighbours during the visit to Kuwait.
Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut diplomatic and transport ties with Doha on June 5, saying Qatar supports Iran and Islamists, a charge Qatar denies.
The trip to the Gulf takes place amid rising tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
