President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) Alejandro Dominguez praised the State of Qatar’s preparations for FIFA World Cup 2022.
During his visit to Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy’s headquarters in Doha, Dominguez said his federation would be happy to benefit from the Qatari experience and that the countries that host the World Cup in the future will learn well from Qatar’s unique experience and intriguing preparations for 2022.
“It’s going to be very helpful to learn from a country that is hosting the World Cup,” he said. “You need to gather a lot of knowledge before you kick off any bid, including the planning, strategy and logistics,” he added.
Dominguez also heaped praise on Qatar’s compact tournament plans, which will mean short travel times for fans, players and officials. “It’s original everything is planned so cleverly,” he continued. “It’s going to be a great experience only having to travel an hour between venues.
There is also the opportunity for fans to attend more than one match per day. This opportunity is pioneering.”
Dominguez who is also the FIFA Vice-President and FIFA Council member, ended by saying he expects Qatar to host a huge party in 2022. “I’m absolutely happy to see how the country is preparing to host the best and biggest party in the world,” he added. “I’m 100% sure it’s going to be an amazing experience to be here in 2022 and enjoy the party.”
Dominguez recently announced that Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina are planning to submit a joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
