Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, in collaboration with Hamad Bin Khalifa University, recently held a social event at HBKU’s ‘The Brand Lounge’ titled ‘Sustainable Businesses, For a Better Future’.
This event offered the audience an opportunity to hear stories from academics and entrepreneurs in the field of sustainability in the State of Qatar.
Attendees also got the chance to learn about sustainability efforts undertaken in the country and the role private institutions and individuals can play during the various sustainability campaigns taking place in the country.
Bedaya Centre general manager Reem al-Suwaidi said: “Qatar is on track to transform into a knowledge-based economy, therefore, sustainability issues are becoming more important than ever before, as it is one of the pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, in which the private sector plays a pivotal role in achieving sustainable development.”
She added: “Supporting entrepreneurs is a prerequisite for enabling the private sector to play their important part in contributing to a comprehensive and broad vision to support the national economy. “Much has been achieved in this area. However, there is still a need for more projects and steps to be taken in this field. The objective of this event was to help stakeholders communicate extensively with experienced academics and business leaders in the sustainability sector.”
