Sri Lankan Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday met HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, and the delegation accompanying him, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Qatari-Sri Lankan joint committee on economic, commercial and technical co-operation, in Colombo. The meeting reviewed aspects of co-operation, particularly in the fields of economy, commerce and investment, and means of developing them. The volume of trade exchange between Qatar and Sri Lanka amounted to QR223mn in 2016. Nearly 210 Sri Lankan companies operate in Qatar with a joint Qatari-Sri Lankan capital of around QR45.5mn.
