Qatar voiced its strong condemnation and denunciation of the explosion that occurred in a restaurant at the Salahuddin Governorate in northern Iraq, leaving a number of people dead and wounded.
In a statement issued yesterday, the Foreign Ministry reiterated Qatar’s firm stance in rejection of violence and terrorism whatever the motives and reasons were.
The statement expressed Qatar’s condolences to the families of the victims as well as the government and people of Iraq and its wishes of speedy recovery to the injured.

Minister of Awqaf inaugurates new programmes
HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak al-Kuwari inaugurated yesterday two new programmes in the framework of the ministry’s efforts to develop administrative work, and enhance the quality of its services to employees.
Abdulrahman Abdullah al-Marri, director, information systems department, said that the department is launching the new services to provide administrative services to employees and promote the administrative work in the ministry.
The first programme provides a self-evaluation of the service provided to staff and facilitates its delivery, while the second programme help officials create and distribute tasks to divisions, units and staff, and follow-up of the completion of the tasks with high speed and quality.

Advisory Council to attend Rabat conference
A delegation from the Advisory Council will participate in the 11th conference of the Council of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils in Africa and the Arab World which begins today in the Moroccan capital of Rabat.
The two-day conference will discuss a number of issues of interest to the Arab and African sides and ways of enhancing dialogue and partnerships between them and supporting African-Arab co-operation to achieve common interests and contribute at the same time to strength international co-operation in various parliamentary fields.

Chief of Staff meets military attaches
Chief of Staff of Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim met yesterday with military attache at the Kuwait embassy Colonel Nasser Abdulaziz al-Samhan, on the occasion of ending his mission in the country.
The Chief of Staff also met with military attache of Turkey Mehmet Aksoy, on the occasion of assuming his duties in the country.
The meetings were attended by a number of high ranking officers in the armed forces.

Youth Hostel to mark Day of Peace
Qatar Youth Hostel will celebrate tomorrow International Day of Peace at its headquarters in Al Luqta. The theme, ‘wake up to a better world’, introduces the youth to the real and comprehensive meaning of peace and the ways to implement it to participate and spread the peace culture.
The most prominent activity the Youth Hostel will organise in this celebration is a panel discussion with more than a 100 youth of different nationalities. The panel will include chairman of the board/president of Qatar Red Crescent Society Dr Mohammed bin Ghanim al-Maadheed, member of the Qatar Committee for Alliance of Civilisations Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah Ahmad al-Sada and chairman of Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) and president of Qatar’s Community College Ibrahim Saleh al-Naimi.
