Furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories shops in Doha are expecting good business throughout and beyond the Eid al-Adha holidays, it is learnt.

Speaking to Gulf Times, an employee of a leading furniture and household store in the country cited a significant increase in footfall on August 31 compared to the past seven weeks this year.
“We received more people last Thursday and we noticed that majority of them purchased various items,” he said.
He stressed that the economic blockade against Qatar is not affecting their sales targets due to “the residents’ appetite to buy and use new items for their homes” particularly during the festival season.
While a large number of Qatar residents travelled abroad for the Eid break, it is learnt that many of those who preferred to stay in the country are using this period to clean, fix and beautify their residences.

Various items for home decors, including lightings, are in demand during the Eid al-Adha break.

The employee pointed out that the Eid al-Adha holidays provide an opportunity for families to replace and upgrade old cabinets, bed frames and pillows, tables and chairs, and several other home accessories.
He also expects more customers, especially families, to throng different stores and shops in Doha throughout Eid to avail of the promotions and discounts on offer.
“In many cases, families come here just to look for new designs and models but end up buying the things they feel are useful in the future,” he added.
Another store at a mall also started receiving more shoppers looking for kitchen and dining accessories, bedroom and living room decorations, and other home furniture.
An employee said many of their regular customers are looking for new plates and glasses, table mats, drawers, sofas, bedsheets, pillows, curtains, and doormats, among others.
She noted that “a slight decrease” in the demand for such items in the past two months, usually an off peak period for most businesses in the country.
However, she said that the increasing interest of families in Qatar to own new household items helps in keeping a steady flow of shoppers, particularly during the Eid al-Adha break.
“Many similar businesses also see the rising population and booming construction sector in the country as big factors in attracting more customers,” she explained, citing the need for newly built villas, flats and commercial buildings to be furnished with new furniture sets and appliances.
