The Ministry of Interior (MoI), in association with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and Barwa Group, will organise Eid al-Adha celebrations for expatriate communities on the first and second days of Eid.
The events will be held on September 1 and 2 between 5pm and 10pm across six venues namely, the Asian Town, Labour City, Barwa Baraha, Al Wakrah Sports Club, Al Ahli Sports Club and Barwa Workers Recreation Complex at Al Khor. The schedule of the celebrations were announced yesterday at a meeting by MoI’s Public Relations director Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al-Muftah.
MADLSA’s International Labour Relations Department director Khalid Abdullah al-Ghanim and assistant director Faisal al-Shuaibi also spoke at the meeting attended by representatives of many expatriate communities.
Brigadier al-Muftah said the programme will comprise musical, cultural, folklore and traditional shows by teams from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Prominent expatriate orchestras from Qatar representing India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are to stage programmes while artistes from Pakistan and Nepal will also perform at community programmes. Various government departments and agencies will also hold some awareness programmes for expatriates. Officials from the Departments of the Ministry of Interior such as Traffic, Civil Defence, Al Fazaa Police, Community Police, Search and Follow up Department, Human Rights Department will hold such sessions. There will be awareness classes by the officials of the Emergency Service 999 and MoI Public Relations Department.
Al-Ghanim said the MADLSA is giving top priority for the care of workers in Qatar. “We have been organising various programmes on different occasions for the welfare of the workers. This time, we are associating with Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Culture and Sports.”
The official also added the Ministry of Public Health and Qatar Charity are also supporting the MoI in organising the celebrations.
The Indian, Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan artistes will perform various cultural events in the Asian Town (cricket stadium parking area), Labour City (playground) and Barwa Baraha (playground).
The Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi Community teams and artistes from many Indian associations will hold shows. The events include music concerts, dances and thematic shows.   
At Al Ahli Club, Nepalese artiste Rajesh Payel Rai, comedian Sandip Chhetri, Chanda Aryal, Pramila Shree Khanal and Amrita Limbu and others will perform various musical and cultural shows.
Pakistani artistes Shahid Ali Khan, Khalid Malek, Khwaja Masoud,  Nadiya Gul, Deepa and Mariya Khan will entertain crowds at Al Wakrah Stadium on September 1 and 2.
Orchestras from India and Nepal will stage shows at Al Khor Barwa Workers Recreation  on the two days. While extending invitation to the expatriates, Brigadier al-Muftah made an appeal to the managements of the companies to send maximum numbers of the workers for the programmes in different venues.
Except for the Nepali concert to be held at the Amphitheatre at the Asian Town, entry to all programmes are free.
The entry to the Nepali concert is restricted by tickets.
