The oppressively hot summer weather conditions continue to adversely affect the activities of Qatar's fishermen, Gulf Times has learnt.
"It may take at least one more month before we return to our activities in full swing," an elder member of the country's expatriate fishermen community said.
"Besides the bad weather arising from the season's heat conditions, fishermen are also avoiding venturing into those areas in the sea which share borders with the Gulf neighbours who have imposed a blockade on Qatar," he explained.
Even a minor violation of the borders of the territorial waters by accident while fishing could invite trouble, he said.
Like their Qatar counterparts, fishermen from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE also avoid visits to the borders of their territorial water limits, inquiries found.
