The Hamd Medical Corporation (HMC)’s Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) recently welcomed the first outpatients at its digestive (GI) and liver disease clinics, which have moved from their previous location at Hamad General Hospital.

Digestive endoscopy procedures have also relocated to the Ambulatory Care Centre.

With a focus on treating patients with digestive system disorders, these are the second round of clinics to commence outpatient services at the Ambulatory Care Centre and follow the start of podiatry outpatient services earlier this year.

Audiology and ENT outpatient clinics are also planned to move to the ACC along with a pre-admission anaesthesia clinic and surgical services.

This gradual introduction of outpatient and surgical services at the Ambulatory Care Centre precedes the official opening of the three new Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City hospitals, according to a statement.

When fully operational, the ACC will offer patients a "new approach" to surgical and clinical care in Qatar, providing daycare surgery, some inpatient surgical care and clinical care delivered in the "most technologically advanced operating theatres and treatment rooms".

Dr Saad al-Kaabi, senior consultant, medical affairs and head of gastroenterology and hepatology at ACC, said: “Both myself and the rest of our gastroenterology and endoscopy clinical teams are excited about the relocation to the Ambulatory Care Centre. The facility is state-of-the-art and will enable us to provide our patients with the best possible care.”

He added: “In addition to continuing to provide patients with our usual high standard of clinical care, we will also continue to build upon recent departmental successes such as introducing new technology and therapies.

"The new facility will provide and encourage active participation of fellows in a programme that offers comprehensive state-of-the-art clinical training. It will also provide fully functional research areas to enable the development of the expertise and knowledge required to ensure excellent patient care.”
