Hundreds of students from various schools, colleges and universities in Qatar took part in a human formation of His Highness the Emir’s famous portrait, widely recognised as ‘Tamim Al Majd’, at the Aspire Dome on Thursday.
Themed as “a people formation in Love of Qatar,” the Community College of Qatar (CCQ)-organised event highlighted the students’ joy and enthusiasm in expressing their solidarity with the country and its wise leadership.
Participants sang Qatar’s national anthem as they waved flaglets while positioned on the 2,000sqm platform at Aspire Dome’s football field.
“We organised this unique event to show our love for His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, and the country,” CCQ public relations head Safia al-Sheeb told Gulf Times
“We will do everything for the Emir and our country.”

Students gather on the platform to form the ‘Tamim Al Majd’ portrait.

While several institutions in Qatar have installed giant Tamim Al Majd billboards at various locations in Doha, CCQ “thought of something unique and special to show our love for our country,” she said.
Al-Sheeb noted that CCQ’s initiative is the first human formation event in the country aimed at showcasing people’s unity and loyalty in the face of a regional rift.
It also forms part of the Tamim the Glorious National Campaign.
“We want to show the world how resilient and united the people of Qatar are, unfazed by the Saudi-led blockade since day one (June 5) up to now,” she stressed.
The portrait of the Emir has become the face of Qatari resilience during the ongoing blockade imposed by Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt. Qataris and expatriates continuously throng different places where the portrait has been displayed to write messages of love and patriotism.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Qatar University student Amal Mohamed said she felt proud to be a Qatari citizen while standing to form the Emir’s image and singing Qatar’s national anthem with other students.
“We love our Emir so much,” said the accountancy student, adding that she was very happy to be part of the CCQ’s event.
“The accusations against Qatar are all lies.”
Another student, Dana al-Rayes, echoed Amal’s statement saying they are expressing their solidarity and love for the country and fully supporting the wise leadership of the Emir and the State of Qatar.
Apart from organising a human formation event, CCQ also announced recently that it is ready to receive Qatari students studying abroad who have been forced to leave as a result of the siege.
