The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced it will close entry and exit from and to Al Wajbah Street at the Al Wajbah Junction, which connects to Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, to enable the completion of road and utility upgrade works.
The proposed road closure has been designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. It comes into effect on Thursday and will be in place until the first week of October, Ashghal has said in a press statement.
As shown on the map, access to and from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street from Al Wajbah Street will now be diverted via Al Hamd and Al Shafi streets.
The upgrade works include the installation of a new signallised junction to control traffic flow between Al Wajbah and Al Rayyan Al Jadeed streets, road paving works to upgrade Al Wajbah Street and additional lanes in Al Hamd Street from two to four lanes in each direction. The drainage systems will also be improved.
Ashghal has said there will be no reduction in the number of lanes on Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and requested all road users to abide by the speed limit, which is 50kph, and follow the newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
