The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will temporarily shift eastbound and westbound traffic at Salwa Road Interchange No 24 to continue construction work on a multi-level interchange.
The proposed road change, which will take place approximately 25km west of Doha, has been designed in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, Ashghal has said in a statement. It will be implemented from Tuesday and continue for 40 days.
As shown on the map, the temporary road realignment will affect a 1km section on Salwa Road and will be implemented in three phases over the 40-day period.
During the three phases, road users travelling in both directions will be shifted onto adjacent roads and can continue their journey towards Abu Samra or Doha as required.
Ashghal has informed road users that the number of lanes on the 1km stretch of Salwa Road will reduce from four lanes to three in order to complete the construction work. It will install road signs advising motorists of the closure.
The authority has requested all road users to abide by the speed limit, which has been reduced from 120kph to 50kph for the 1km section of Salwa Road, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
