The University of Aberdeen in Qatar will launch the first undergraduate programme in real estate in the entire Gulf region from the 2018 academic year.
“Students who enrol this year for other programmes also can switch to the programme next year if they wish so,” said Sheikha Dr Aisha bint Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani, chairperson of the Board of Directors of Al Faleh Group for Educational Services that is operating the Aberdeen University branch campus in Qatar.
“The University of Aberdeen has a strong programme in Real Estate studies. They have the reputation of providing one of the best real estate programmes in the world with highly acclaimed faculty members. So we hope to provide a high quality real estate programme that will attract so many students from the country and beyond,” explained Sheikha Dr Aisha.
“Real estate is an important discipline for Qatar as it has become a booming industry in the country. The country needs highly qualified professionals in the subject and we are hopeful that the programme will help in this regard,” continued the official.
Dr Sheikha Aisha disclosed that the university is already in talks with leading real estate companies in the country for collaboration in this filed.
“In Qatar, we have highly acclaimed real estate companies such as Barwa and Qatar Diar. We are in talks to with them and hope to sign agreements to collaborate with them. We hope that such collaboration will lead to a high quality programme and highly talented graduates,” she pointed out.
The official also told that the university will launch a programme in economics from next academic year.
University of Aberdeen is the fifth oldest university in the UK. "The students doing a programme in Qatar campus will get the same degree as from Aberdeen University in the UK. Students can also opt for transfer to the parent university during the programme. They also offer placement services for students,” added the official.
The University of Aberdeen launched the Qatar campus, the first branch campus of the university outside the UK recently. It will start two undergraduate programmes in accounting & finance and general management from this September.
