A delegation from Doha Centre for Media Freedom (DCMF) is participating in the International Press Institute (IPI) annual World Congress in Hamburg, Germany.
The event brings together journalists, media houses and experts to discuss the major challenges facing the global media industry.
The delegation is being led by the acting director-general of the centre, Abdulrahman Nasser al-Obaidan, and joins more than 300 other attendees to discuss how to promote press freedom around the world.
This year’s congress is being held under the slogan “Building the journalism we need: media freedom and quality in the digital age”, highlighting the difficulties associated with ever-changing technology and its impact on the media landscape.
The conference focuses on the quality of journalists during times of crisis, refugee journalists and covering the refugee crisis, and the constant issues of journalists’ safety and the threat of impunity, among other subjects.
DCMF’s team will meet officials from various media organisations with the aim of developing partnerships and networks to co-operate and address the challenges raised throughout the conference.
The event is being held until tomorrow.
