A 1.6km stretch of a new permanent road with two flyovers and two lanes in each direction along Al Wukair Road will be opened on Friday.
The new road is part of the Al Wakra Bypass Project in the southern area of Qatar.
Road users will be shifted from the current temporary diversion route on to the new section of roads in two phases.
Traffic going westbound towards Al Wukair will be shifted on Friday, followed by eastbound traffic towards Al Wakra on Sunday.
To facilitate the opening, the junction connecting Al Sakhama Road to Al Wukair Road will be permanently closed from Sunday.
After the closure, residents of nearby Ezdan Villages 28, 36 and 37, will be required to follow diversion signs and access Al Wukair Road via Al Wukair roundabout (as shown on the attached map).
Ashghal is expediting the remaining works on the Al Wakra Bypass Project which are scheduled to be opened next month. It is part of a 11km main carriageway.
Once opened, motorists travelling from Al Wakra and areas further south of Qatar will benefit from direct access to the G Ring Road connecting to the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route and the F Ring Road towards Hamad International Airport and Doha.
