A partnership agreement has been signed between Ooredoo and AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, to share technology expertise and services between the company and the college in Qatar.
The agreement was signed by Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh al-Thani, chairperson of Al Faleh Group for Educational and Academic Services, and Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani, chief new business officer at Ooredoo Qatar.
The signing ceremony was attended by a number of officials and stakeholders from both sides.
Dr Sheikha Aisha praised the collaboration between AFG College and Ooredoo, a leader in integrated ICT solutions.
After several co-ordination meetings between the two parties, the agreement strengthens co-operation and partnership in achieving common interests.
She also stressed that co-operation with Ooredoo is the best choice for AFG College in its march toward excellence in the information field while keeping abreast of accelerating technological developments.
"At AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, we aim to invest in providing the latest technical resources to students by providing a solid foundation for an advanced infrastructure that adds value to our educational services and sets them apart from other educational institutions,” Dr Sheikha Aisha said.
“So, we have made our goal to take advantage of the latest technology and communications resources to ensure the success and excellence of our students in the digital age,” she added.
Ooredoo Qatar’s chief operating officer Yousif Abdullah al-Kubaisi said Ooredoo is pleased to partner with educational institutions in Qatar such as AFG College, as the company seeks to be one of the leading providers of telecommunications services and information technology in Qatar and the region by developing, innovating, and providing the best solutions in the field.
After completing the signing ceremony, the participants toured the different departments and facilities of AFG College and expressed their admiration for the quality of the faculty's facilities.
Al Faleh Group for Educational and Academic Services has established a contractual partnership with the University of Aberdeen in the UK, to open the first university branch in the Middle East, especially in Qatar.
University of Aberdeen is an ancient and prestigious university founded in 1495, making it Scotland’s third-oldest university and fifth-oldest in English-speaking world.
It is consistently ranked among top 200 universities in the world.
As a result of the partnership, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen will start its programmes by the beginning of the academic year 2017/2018.
