Secondary students and teachers at Ebla International School (EIS) have benefited from a recent lecture on safety and security in fire emergencies organised by Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) and the General Directorate of Civil Defence.
Apart from the discussions and open forum, the lecture also engaged participants in a number of life-saving and fire prevention exercises. They were also briefed about the types of fire extinguishers and how to use them.
Some of the lecturers include QRCS’ health education head Dr Ahmed Idlibi, Civil Defence’s media and preventive education lecturer Khalil Rashid al-Nuaimi, and EIS doctor, Dr Yousra Shumaita.
Al-Nuaimi explained the right steps while reporting a fire, from giving the location and other important information about the incident, as well as the basics of self-protection and rescuing of others.
Idlibi talked about the different degrees of burn and how to perform first aid for each type, correcting some common wrong practices in dealing with burns.
