A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced three Bangladeshi men to one year in jail and ordered their subsequent deportation for kidnapping and torturing two compatriots.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that defendants wanted to threaten the victims and blackmail their relatives and family back home and extort a substantial amount.
According to the case file, one of the defendants went to the accommodation of the victims inside Doha, broke into the house with the help on another defendant, attacked the individuals and tied them up. Then, with the help of the third defendant who was waiting in his vehicle outside, they moved the victims to a farm where they used to live.
While the victims were tortured and asked their relatives for ransom, another man saw the crime and was able to note down the number of the vehicle, and reported the issue to the police.
Eventually, the vehicle was spotted and the defendants arrested.
