The newly-formed Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team will take part   for the first time ever in the MotoGP championship this season with riders Bradley Smith and Pol Espargar?.
A press conference to announce the launch of the team was held in the presence of Abdulrahman al-Mannai, President of Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), Willy Kempel, Austrian ambassador to Qatar, and Khalid al-Remaihi, Vice President and GM of Losail Circuit Sports Club.
With more than 250 world titles earned by KTM in off-road racing, the team are excited to hit the asphalt and take on a new challenge with the same dedication and discipline that they are known for.
Commenting on Red Bull and KTM’s contribution to the motorsports world, Austrian ambassador Kempel stated: “I am proud to see two Austrian high performing companies joining forces and contributing to the motorsports world on a global scale. I am also pleased to see Red Bull as the leading energy drink brand and contributor to motorsports worldwide make a most important contribution to the sports scene in Qatar. This includes various sport disciplines and thus contributes directly to the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Abdulrahman al-Mannai, QMMF President, commented on the partnership with Red Bull saying: “We are happy to have Red Bull as our strategic partner across all our motorsports initiatives in Qatar. We have started cementing a strong foundation, exemplified by various events, such as Red Bull Car Park Drift and the recent desert buggy racing event: Red Bull Qaher El T3ous”.
For over a year, a five-person film crew have been following the steps of the factory team on their journey to join the elite motorcycling series with cameras being closer to the action than ever before. What has emerged is a unique and in depth 45-minute documentary with detailed insights behind the scenes of the mighty RC16 – a 270-horsepower beast on two wheels.
An exclusive movie premier of the documentary Ready to Race – KTM GOES MotoGP was held at Alfardan Motorcycle Showroom at The Pearl Doha yesterday. The film also becomes available for the public to watch on demand on Red Bull TV, after March 26.
