HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, yesterday met Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi at the presidential palace as part of her visit to witness some of the employment projects in Tunisia.
HH Sheikha Moza then attended a dinner hosted by Chadlia Saida Farhat, wife of the Tunisian president.
HH Sheikha Moza also met Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed for talks that discussed different ways to support Tunisian youth through the Silatech foundation.
Her Highness and the Tunisian premier witnessed the signing of two collaboration agreements between Silatech and the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) on one hand and Tunisian and international organisations on the other. A number of ministers attended the signing.
The first agreement signed between Silatech and the Tunisian Ministry of Development, Investment and International Co-operation, aims to provide a strategic collaboration framework between the parties in the areas of youth empowerment, investment promotion, and economic growth opportunities for young people in Tunisia.
The second agreement aims to establish a partnership between the four parties of Silatech, EAA, Dutch organisation SPARK and the Tunisian Agency for Vocational Training (ATFP) to develop a vocational training curriculum, provide training and to support entrepreneurship. This agreement is EAA’s first project in Tunisia.
Additionally, HH Sheikha Moza visited the Fadaa Al Kahena Centre, part of ENDA Tamweel - one of Silatech’s partners in Tunisia. She saw for herself the achievements of ENDA and the impact of its partnership with Silatech. She watched part of a training course taking place there and met beneficiaries of the project.
HH Sheikha Moza also learned about a mobile banking project launched by ENDA and Silatech to provide financial services to remote and rural areas.
