Fifty One East, a prominent department store in Qatar, has announced its three years’ sponsorship for the Young Qatari Designers initiative at the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition (DJWE), which runs at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre until Saturday.
The initiative will showcase the exquisite and bespoke jewellery collections of Doha’s finest young designers. Part of the Fifty One East sponsorship is their commitment to nurture the talent of Qatari youth who are creating their jewellery collections inspired by traditional techniques and unique craftsmanship handed down through generations, preserving signature Qatari artistry.
Bader Abdullah al-Darwish, chairman and managing director of Darwish Holding, expressed his delight to help Qatar’s brightest artisans, commenting; “We are proud to stand hand in hand with the Young Qatari Designers initiative.
The younger generations are the future of our nation, and the ones who will build upon our ancestors’ heritage and steer our country forward. It has always been essential to us that we support them and help realise their ambitions. They are the base for the economic and social development of Qatar.”
This year’s young Qatari designers exhibiting, are: Noor Alfardan (owner of Noudar), who will reveal a new collection of diamond-studded jewels inspired from the noble heritage of the Arabic and Islamic culture; influences from Oman patterns and Henna designs; Nada al-Sulaiti (of Hairaat), an award-winning Qatari designer with a keen interest in wearable art; Sarah al-Hammadi (of Sarah’s & Co) who will present a collection focused on bridal jewellery inspired by wedding glamour, nature and abstract arts; Nouf al-Meer (of Nouf Jewellery) whose craftsmanship is developed by social interaction and an observation of her surroundings;  Fajr al-Attiya (of Trifoglio) who has been inspired by nature, while her latest collection brings a modern touch of femininity to the classic shamrock leaf; and Ghada Albuainain (founder of Ghada Albuainain jewellery) who has become well-known for transforming unconventional materials into elegant works of art.
Part of Fifty One East’s owned collections are Rolex, Chanel and Boucheron as well as Andre Marcha, Azza Fahmy, Bremont, Falamank by Tarfa Itani, H Moser & Cie, Hueb, leBebé, LeLune, Pasquale Bruni, Pandora, Speake-Marin, Takara, Tudor and Yvan Tufenkjian.
