A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced a Nepalese man to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for illicit drugs trade. Local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported that the court also ordered the defendant to pay QR200,000 as fine for the crime. He was convicted of possessing around 5kg of amphetamine pills for personal consumption and trade. The issue started when secret sources informed the authorities that the man used to circulate illicit drugs in the country. Accordingly, an undercover policeman was instructed to approach him for amphetamine pills for QR950. At the agreed time and place of delivery, the defendant was arrested by the police while executing the deal. A further search of his place also revealed more quantity of the drug.
