HE the Minister of Finance Ali Shareef al-Emadi is leading Qatar’s delegation to the 47th edition of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland.
The delegation comprises HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani and Qatar Investment Authority CEO HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohamed bin Saud al-Thani.
Al-Emadi also met WEF president Klaus Schwab in the presence of Sheikh Ahmed in Davos.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Ahmed yesterday met many dignitaries including Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment Majid al-Qasabi and Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen in Davos.
The meetings reviewed bilateral relations in the economic, commercial and investment fields and means of boosting and developing these.
Trade volume between Qatar and Saudi Arabia amounted to QR7.8bn in 2015, establishing Saudi Arabia as Qatar’s 13th largest trade partner.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia are linked through a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, notably a memorandum of understanding in cooperation in the industrial field as well as an air transport agreement and deals in transport, roads and infrastructure segments.
On the other hand, trade volume between Qatar and Netherlands amounted to QR3.6bn in 2015, with Netherlands being Qatar’s 21st largest trade partner.
Qatar and Netherlands have several agreements and memoranda of understanding in place, including in economic, commercial and technical areas besides a set of deals in museums, energy, and avoidance of double taxation and monitoring tax evasion.
According to QNA, as many as 24 Dutch companies with 100% capital operate in Qatar in logistics, security systems and information technology, while 102 Qatari-Dutch firms operate in commerce, construction, infrastructure and services, and information technology.
