An art exhibition titled ‘The Great Awakening’ is opening at the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara from today. This was announced at a press conference attended by Katara General Manager (GM) Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti.
The exhibition, which consists of art work created by the Ecuadorian artist Maria Veronica, will be on until January 30 and consists of 35 pieces of art. 
Addressing attendees during the press conference, Katara GM Dr al-Sulaiti said: “I have to acknowledge the strong bilateral co-operation between the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara and the Ecuadorian embassy in Doha represented by Kabalan Abisaab. We have brought through this collaboration, many festivals, events and exhibitions that witnessed the most beautiful representation of human and cultural communication. The major objective of this exhibition stems from Katara’s keenness to boost cultural co-operation.” 
The Ecuadorian envoy to Doha, Kabalan Abisaab, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to Katara. 
Maria Veronica, the artist, has adopted a highly technical style in her pieces that range across paintings, drawings, photography and video-art.
Commenting on the exhibition, she said: “Arabian culture is a fascinating world of mysticism, mystery and magic. Its fantastic stories and sceneries enrich my spirit and guide my creativity towards the realisation of an art in harmony with the region. The new cities are a contemporary phenomenon; great cultural puzzles, that today more than ever, offer extraordinary platforms for evolution, and manage with fluidity, the interactions of the different cultures and talents inhabiting them.”
