Al Rayyan scored one of the most lopsided wins in the history of local basketball when they thrashed Al Sadd 110-59 in the Qatar Men’s League yesterday.
After edging the first quarter 25-21, Al Rayyan upped their game to a new level to eventually run out winners by 51 points.
Marcel Anderson scored a game-high 37 points for the defending champions, also recording eight assists and five steals in the process.  Anderson was on the court for just about 32 minutes, and scored thrice from three-pointers, while Abdulrahman Abdulhaleem tallied 28 and Marcus Bell 20.
Al Sadd trailed for 39.18 minutes in the 40-minute game, giving away 36 points to Al Rayyan from turnovers. Al Rayyan also had 37 fast break points against a mere two for Al Sadd.
Ahmed Saad was the top scorer for Al Sadd with 18 points, while Mohamed Ouiri and Suliman Abdi had 10 apiece.
