The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is working to develop an action plan for the Patient Consultative Council Project, aimed at providing additional support to patients and enhancing community participation.
Quoting an official source at the PHCC, local Arabic daily Al Watan said that the goal of the project is to achieve a comprehensive model of family medicine. Besides, PHCC aims to introduce alternatives for personal medical consultations to improve request management and give patients more opportunity to get better and immediate services.
Meanwhile, the annual report of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) 2016 highlights that three new health centres were opened by PHCC at different areas around the country last year, in addition to the workers’ health centres at Mesaimeir and Al Jamilah.
Besides, the number of hospitals at Hamad Medical Corporation reached nine last year in addition to the opening of several specialised clinics and centres.
A total of 571 patients were given home care by PHCC last year and the total number of home visits were 72,000 .
MoPH in 2016 granted preliminary approvals for the licensing of 341 health facilities and final licensing approval for 198 health centres. In addition, it also approved the transfer of 15 health facilities and the renewal of 463 health centre licences.
As many as 23,358 general practitioners have been registered on the electronic system of medical professional development programme who had conducted 195,773 activities and events to develop their performance.
Seven new offices of MoPH to register the newborn were inaugurated at government hospitals and at the private ones last year. These were linked electronically with the  entities concerned to issue  newborn birth certificates within 60 minutes.
