Sammy Monroe top-scored with 29 points as Al Gharafa romped to an 86-64 win over Al Ahli in the Qatar Men’s League at the Al Gharafa Sports Club yesterday.
There was precious little to choose between the two teams initially as Al Gharafa just about managed to edge Al Ahli 21-19 in the first quarter, but thereafter the tide turned completely against the latter who were left chasing shadows.
Bravo scored 26 baskets from field goals and was ably supported by Alexander Arnold who chipped in with an equally significant 24 points. Essad Muslic with 11 also made a useful contribution.
Al Gharafa stretched their lead to 13 points at the end of the second quarter, finally emerging winners by a comfortable 22-point margin.
In the final stages, Al Gharafa led by a whopping 28 points (86-58) before Al Ahli cut into the lead with six consecutive points. For Al Ahli, Branko Ereminov scored  22, while Seydou Ndoye had 14 and Nemanja Mijkovic 11.
In the second match of the day, El Jaish notched up a similarly one-sided victory over Al Sadd, winning 85-64.
