The Ministry of Interior, represented by the Public Relations Department, has won the first place in the annual awareness film competition 2016 organised by the General Secretariat of Arab Interior Ministers Council.
Qatar was placed first in the contest for the film produced under the theme “Security risks of social media”. The award was announced at the 40th Conference of Arab police and security chiefs held in Tunis. Qatar had won first place in the competition held in the previous year as well.
Dr Mohamed bin Ali Kouman, Secretary General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council gave away the prize to Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, director general of Public Security who headed the Qatar delegation to the conference.
The award emphasised the efforts of the Ministry in raising the awareness of the community and always following the dictum “prevention is better than cure”.
The 90-minute long film sheds light on the security threats of the social media networks and the necessity to be alert to avoid its negative effects.
The Director of Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa al- Muftah expressed his pleasure on the achievement, stating that the prize underscored the success of the Ministry in creating security awareness among all sectors of the society.
