A Doha Criminal Court has sentenced an expatriate security employee to one year in jail and subsequent deportation for stealing goods from the shop he used to work for.
Arabic daily Arrayah reported that the defendant was convicted for stealing goods worth around QR40,000 from his place of work.
The investigation revealed that the defendant had disconnected surveillance cameras in the shop before committing the crime.
But he had overlooked one of the cameras, the footage of which was later accepted by the court as evidence against him.
Eventually, the court convicted him of theft and abusing his job responsibilities.
