The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs is working with the government and private entities to nationalise jobs and create job opportunities for citizens, HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi has said.

Speaking on the sidelines of the annual career day event organised by QNB, the Minister said the executive regulations of the new human resources law will specify the measures included in the law to empower Qataris and specify their rights and obligations, noting that the statute will be issued before the end of the year.

QNB organised the open career day to attract Qatari talent in keeping with the bank's commitment to nurture the development of its human resources, which it considers a core element of its success, as well as to affirm its commitment to supporting Qatarisation across its operations.

During the event, the bank received employment applications from numerous high-school and university graduates, as well as from experienced professionals who wish to work for QNB. The applicants and attendees were offered an introduction to the employment opportunities available in the banking and management fields as well as an explanation of the professional training and development programmes offered through its Learning and Development Centre.

Dr Issa Saad al-Jafali al-Nuaimi said QNB is considered one of the leading banks in Qatar and has branches across the world.

The Minister said the bank listed the vacancies in the different departments so that the applicants can learn about the available jobs and go directly to the relevant department where they get briefed on its role and the mechanism of work.

He said the ministry is working to fill these jobs through awareness programmes that precede employment as well as training and rehabilitation programmes.

HE al-Nuaimi said the bank works within a clear strategy and most of the officials are Qatari, adding that branches across the world have Qatari staff who were trained to work in foreign branches. He added that the Qatarisation rate is very high because the bank is prosperously expanding

QNB Group CEO Ali Ahmed al-Kuwari stressed that the bank gives great importance to supporting the Qatarisation process and follows it to hire Qatari nationals across the group's operations.

"We are proud today of having achieved the highest Qatarisation ratio in the Qatari banking sector, which now stands at 53%. We aim to enhance this figure through the hiring of the largest possible number of Qataris in the bank's various departments." He added that the Qatarisation ratio among top management has reached 60%, as well as 82% among branch managers," al-Kuwari said.

"We are walking hand in hand today with the national goals of our State of Qatar and its aim to invest in human resources and grant our national workforce all manner of encouragement and development, as well as honing their talents. That is why we continue to organize these kinds of events. We will continue at QNB to implement our Qatarisation strategy to employ our Qatari youth and grant them the training they require to reach top positions that serve the group and the country," he added.

For his part, Yousef al-Othman, QNB's general manager of human capital, said the career day is one of the employment channels that allow Qatari youth to meet the various departments that wish to fill vacancies in their ranks, adding that the event grants Qatari youth a general idea of the bank's internal structure and the qualifications its various departments require.

Al-Othman said the employment process is not only limited to such events, but rather that the bank works all year long to hire new talent through various channels, including the Group Human Capital as well as its website.

He said that the career day event aims to hire graduates from various disciplines, ranging from high-school to university graduates, in a variety of positions, in addition to attracting experienced banking professionals. The prospects were interviewed on the spot, each according to their specialisation, then the required papers are to be completed, leading to the hiring.

He added that QNB's courses are considered a part of the staff's continuous development and that the QNB Learning and Development Centre offers the group's staff an integrated range of training and development programmes, such as the personal and managerial talent management programmes, and the QNB Ambassadors programme, which qualifies employees for secondment to one of the group's international branches for a period of 12-24 months to acquire international banking expertise.

Al-Othman said the bank appreciates the importance of its employees in the achievement of goals in "maintaining its leading position in the banking sector across its international footprint."

"We also believe in the great benefit investing in the development of our human capital brings in terms of economic revenues and added value through the talented professionals capable of contributing in our group’s growth and development toward the achievement of its noble goals," he added.

In addition to its annual career day, QNB participates in many other employment events both domestically and abroad.
