The Qatar Academy – Doha (QAD) community performed the rain-seeking prayer (Salat Al-Istisqaa) yesterday, with Islamic studies and Arabic teachers praying together with students in primary and senior school. Faisal al-Qahtani, Islamic teacher at QAD, led the prayer and delivered a short message on the importance of the ritual. Sultan al-Sulaiti, a student in grade 12, said: “On behalf of all students, I would like to thank the school for providing the opportunities that reflect its commitment to strengthen our spiritual growth.” Maha al-Romaihi, deputy director, added: “The school organises the prayer for rain annually upon its announcement by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Qatar. This is a great opportunity for the school to promote the Islamic identity among Muslim students through the reinforcement of such Islamic practices.” QAD is a centre of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
