Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently held its Seventh Career Fair and Volunteering Programme for students at Bayt Al Dhiyafah in Hamad Bin Khalifa Medical City.

More than 100 exhibitors from HMC, educational institutions, community-based volunteering organisations and academic and vocational counselling organisations took part in the three-day event.

Hamad Nasser al-Khalifa, head of health facilities development at HMC, inaugurated the career fair in the presence of Dr. Yousef al-Maslamani, medical director of Hamad General Hospital and Balqees al-Khazraji, director of HMC’s health profession awareness and volunteering Programmes, Dr. Mohamed Sultan al-Darwish, consultant in Dental Public Health at HMC, and a number of other officials.

The aim of the career fair was to familiarise the students to sponsorship and future employment opportunities at HMC and also to acquaint them with the current requirements for the local job market.

“HMC takes pride in organising this important annual event where study and employment opportunities at the Corporation and other local employers are highlighted,” said al-Khalifa.

Al-Khazraji explained that the career fair served as a platform for students, volunteers and social service staff to discover new opportunities with more than 100 public and private exhibitors, including HMC.

“The fair aimed at familiarising the public with sponsorship opportunities for study programmes, professional development, hands-on training, academic and vocational counseling services, in addition to discovering local potential employers, volunteering and community service initiatives, and other ongoing health awareness activities,” she explained.

Dr al-Maslamani highlighted the importance of the fair as a means for attracting students to enrol for study programmes in the healthcare domain to fill in the numerous posts available within the healthcare system in Qatar.He hoped that Qatar will achieve self-sufficiency in providing healthcare professionals in the near future.
